Resumo

Essa dissertação, tece inicialmente, considerações sobre as dificuldades e deficiências dos critérios tradicionalmente utilizados nos organismos rodoviários, para a escolha de misturas de solo-agregado para uso em bases de pavimentos, quando aplicados aos materiais, de ocorrência mais freqüente nas regiões tropicais e, comenta também, novos critérios propostos para alguns desses materiais.

A seguir, considerando os solos arenosos finos lateríticos, de ocorrência natural nas regiões sudoeste e centro-oeste do Brasil, como um solo agregado de granulometria  fina, este trabalho propõe um critério orientativo para a escolha destes materiais para uso em bases de pavimento, quando constituídos através de misturas de solos. Esse critério baseia-se em estudos de laboratório.

Por esses estudos de laboratório, podemos concluir também, que a presença de finos lateríticos nestas misturas de granulação fina, é o principal fator determinativo das propriedades mecânicas e hidráulicas desses solos quando compactados.

Abstract

This dissertation considers the deficiences  and difficulties of the traditionally employed criterion on highway systems with relation to the mixture of soil-aggregate for use in pavement bases, and it’s aplication to materials occuring more frequently in tropical regions also, commenting on the new criteria proposed for some of these new materials.

Next, considering, the “fine grained sandy lateritic soils”, wich are natural occourence in the central western Brazil, in the form of na soil-aggregate of fine granulation, this paper suggest na orientation concerning the choice of this material for its use in pavement bases, when composed through mixture of soil. These criteria have been based in laboratory studies.

Through these studies we can also come to the conclusion that the presence of fine granulation is the main determinative factor of the mechanical and hydraulic properties in these soils when they are compacted.
